Rules & Requirements

Approved helmets are required for all HPDE activities. Helmets must be in good condition, fit properly, and carry a current Snell SA2020 or newer certification. Helmet rentals may be available when offered during registration. Helmets are not required for Driver Skills/Car Control Clinics.
Convertible are generally not allowed for our events. Convertibles will be allowed if there is an aftermarket roll bar or roll cage that passes the broomstick test. Factory-installed roll hoops or similar factory rollover protection systems do not satisfy this requirement. If you are unsure whether your convertible vehicle meets these requirements, please contact the Event Registrar before registering for the event.
For safety reasons, passengers are not permitted in participating vehicles during any on-track driving session of an HPDE. Only the registered driver and, when applicable, an authorized instructor or event official may occupy the vehicle while it is participating in an active driving session on track. Passengers may be permitted during any parade laps, touring sessions, or other specifically approved portions of the event only when authorized by the event organizer. All participants must comply with instructions from event staff and track or venue officials. The organizer reserves the right to prohibit any passenger from entering a vehicle or participating in an activity when necessary for safety or compliance with venue requirements.
For the Driver Skills/Car Control Clinic registrants must hold a valid Driver License or be a teen driver with a valid Learner Permit. Participants who are under 18 years of age must meet the following additional requirements: - A parent or legal guardian must be present at the event at all times while the minor is participating. - The minor participant and their parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the required Minor Waiver Agreement before the minor may participate. - The completed Minor Waiver Agreement must be submitted in accordance with the event’s waiver requirements. Two registered drivers may share the same vehicle, subject to the event’s vehicle-sharing rules. This option is commonly used by parent-and-child participants. For HPDE registrants must be 18 years of age.
